you can get little child-locks from Ikea, Mothercare or probably Babyshop. They're generally used for cupboards or fridges, but the principle is the same and they stick on so that once kiddo has grown out of the phase, you can take them off. I've found, however, that actually teaching the child not to do it is better in the long-term... although having a child-lock on as back-up won't hurt!

My 21mth old DS has learnt how to unlock and open the 'balcony' doors in our apartment in the Greens. We live on the ground floor so its not dangerous per se but i'm not happy about it. Anyone else found a way of stopping this? I tell him off each time of course but so far that's not stopping him. We'd made his cot into a cotbed before we moved here but i'm really worried about that now and thinking we should change it back now he's just learnt to unlock doors!!! Any ideas anyone?
