Has anyone had their child's tongue-tie clipped in the UAE, and if so who did it? Looking for practitioners who are willing and able to diagnose and carry out the procedure. Thanks!

If you can find the lactation consultant called Paula Miller she will be able to help. My son had to have his clipped but this was 7 years ago and there was only 1 doctor who would do it and she was based in a hospital in Sharjah. The procedure itself was quick it took about 30 seconds and DS didn't even cry. He latched on straight away after it was done with no problems, before it was done he couldn't latch on properly and feeding was extremely painful.

That's interesting; in the UK it is now recommended as soon as it is suspected that it may be causing problems. Sometimes what looks like a mild case can be more problematic than what looks like a more severe case. There's not much awareness of it in Fujairah and I haven't yet found anyone who will do a frenotomy here; I know the IBCLCs at MCH in Sharjah will do it but not sure about anywhere else.

Hi BFC - sorry can't help you with the info on that but just curious... I know in Oz they've started restricting it only to severe cases. They are not longer snipping when it's mild to moderate tongue-tie. Are there restrictions here or just unknowledgable practicioners?
