Hi all,
Any of your baby tummy sleepers and when ( earliest) did you start putting them on their tummy or they managed to roll themselves?

Thx.

All 3 of mine were tummy sleepers from birth. Paed said it's OK and the cot was in my room so I could check on them regularly. Some babies are just more settled on their tummies :)

Thx! I've noticed DS2 settles much quicker on tummy than if I put him on side or back. ...he also stays asleep longer. I think I will keep with day time naps on tummy for now and go with sides n back at night for a few more weeks. DS1 is a tummy sleeper, although i have found him on his back some nights I've checked on him. I just can't remember when it was he started sleeping on tummy. I know it was before he could roll, but he could lift his head and hold steady for quite some time.

I always put DS to sleep on his back or side, once he could roll I stopped swaddling him and used a sleepbelt to keep him on his back until he learned to tummy sleep. I think he the slept on his tummy from 6 months until around 18 months, for some reason he now prefers to sleep on his back. we always did loads of tummy time when he was awake though and as a result he crawled early (5 months) am thinking I might not give the next baby quite so much tummy time ;)

my both children are tummy sleepers - did that from their birth :) and I still think that tummy sleeping helped us with tummy problems/colics (had only few minor ones during their first year). Once they learned to roll over, they could sleep on their backs too, but would definitely fall asleep on their tummy first P.S. didn't worry that much about SIDS as they've learned how to turn their head early, but did check sometimes on them when they were newborns edited by dramaqn on 15/05/2012

My baby is a tummy sleeper and he's only 5 1/2 weeks old. He has "tummy time" everyday, especially in the evening when he's fussy. I don't let him sleep that way unsupervised though. I will put him on his tummy in his cot in the early evening and he'll usually fall asleep so I'll keep checking on him and then eventually turn him over for a proper sleep on his back. I worry about SIDS but my LO is obviously so much happier on his tummy. He has a strong neck and can turn his head from one side to the other when he's on his tummy but I still worry too much to let him sleep that way at night when I'm also sleeping.
