Hi wizzfizz.
I would recommend Aviva international health Insurance. We have just signed up for our second year with them. The policies are great and medical history is disregarded (you are covered for any existing illnesses - which most insurers will not cover you for). You have a basic cover and then you can pick your additional extras - ie maternity, optical and dental (routine dental and optical checks/treatment- emergency optical and dental is covered under the basic cover) etc etc. There is no waiting period for the maternity cover either - you are covered straight away. We pay slightly over 16,000 aed for myself, my husband and my 1yr old. The policy is run by Aviva in the UK but is administered by Neuron in the UAE. It is also direct billing with all major hospitals and clinics and there is no policy excess to pay.
I used to work for Aviva in the UK and fully understand the policy - I compared it to many policies here and in my honest opinion it comes out on top (especially if you compare prices).
Here is a link to the international health insurance on the website http://www.aviva.co.uk/international-health-insurance/ it's best to give them a call rather than requesting a call back.
I hope you find a policy to suit you soon. :)
We need maternity insurance - not currently pregnant.
I know daman have 6 month waiting period & adnic have 10 months.
Unfortunately, I only have 10000aed covered by my employer - I feel it would be a bit risky to rely on this & top up ourselves.
Does anyone have any recommendations/experience they can share? Is daman UAE plan worth it or better to go with regional?
Huge TIA
