I worked up until a week before and btwn the 45 days and some annual and unpaid leave, managed a 4 month break with my DD. I then cheekily meet with my Manager just before I was due back and negotiated an 8-2pm work day which is absolute bliss! I love love love my afternoons with DD. All the best to you Sapphire99 x

Hi I'm currently 37 weeks along and I'm still at work, and like the others have said, I would rather have the time on the other side when baby is here. We never really know when they will come (unless you are having a c-section) I'm a FS1 teacher so I'm on my feet most of the time, there are days when I do feel like I just want to quit, and other days are a breeze . My parents in the class have all said to me that I am crazy working till 3 days before my due date. And like you said keeping busy keeps the mind off the aches and pains. If you feel you can do it, then go for it. I think its all about what your state your mind/body is in makes the decision easier to come to. I wish you all the best with your pregnancy and labour!!

good tip Kelly_C - that's what I hope to do too. Problem I have is I am in a male dominated work place, most senior female and also the first to go through maternity. JOY!

I did as i said below - i actually return to work on Sunday having been off since End November (my 37th week, baby ended up coming at 38 weeks) I negotiated early start, combined feeding/lunch breaks at the end of the day to make early leave, so will work 8-3 straight through. I will then get to spend a few hours with DD before her 7ish bedtime. Good luck with your negotiations!

i worked until 3 days before due date and went a full week overdue. i was so thankful I worked until 40 weeks as that last week of just waiting when everything was ready was truly awful. I have 5 months ML and may try for a 6th as it will be just the start of ramadan.

Hi Ladies - wondering if anyone else would care to share their experiences in negotiating maternity leave, see Sapphire99's original post below. I get 10 weeks paid leave and am taking 2 weeks annual leave to bring it to a total of 3 months. Due to work commitments, I pretty much have to return right away BUT am hoping to negotiate working from home on one day a week or perhaps finishing a few hours earlier and working through the week. I don't like my chances but will give it a try anyway. Any other experiences/tips from other ladies?
