Dubai Zoo Closing Countdown Begins

Animals at the Jumeirah Zoo can start preparing for much better living conditions. After 50 years, the Jumeirah Zoo will be shutting its doors for good to make way for the new Dubai Safari Park.

The Dubai Municipality announced that they will be closing the zoo on November 5th and most of the animals will be moved to Dubai Safari Park.

The Director of Leisure Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, Khalid Al Suwaidi said in a statement "The Zoo has been a testimony to the leadership's commitment and keenness all these years to be ahead in wildlife conservation and providing entertainment services to the local community."

A closing ceremony will be held on November 5th to honour the zoo employees as well as celebrate the launch of the new park. The ceremony is open for the public to attend and entrance to the zoo will be free of charge.

Dubai Safari Park is the first of its kind in the region and will have its soft launch early in November. The official opening of the park is expected to end of November.
