How to Get a Face Mask Exemption Permit in Dubai

If you're eligible, the permit will be processed within five days

Dubai Health Authorities (DHA) and Dubai Police have announced that residents in the Emirate can be exempt from wearing a face mask in public as long as they have a valid permit.

The new mask exemption permit, which can be applied for through the Dubai Police's website here, can only be received if the applicant has a medical condition that requires them to avoid wearing face masks.

List of medical conditions

Below are the categories of people who are eligible for a mask exemption permit in Dubai. They include the following:

  • Those with Fungal Dermatitis, especially those are suffering from severe symptoms on the face that include bleeding, itchiness, and scaly/flaky skin.
  • Patients with uncontrolled asthma.
  • People of Determination who have mental and psychological conditions.
  • Individuals with acute and uncontrolled chronic Sinusitis.
  • Residents with severe herpes simplex infection on the mouth, nose or face.
  • Those who are allergic to face masks or any of its components (allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, contact urticaria).

If you fall under any of these categories, you can apply for the mask exemption permit.

How to apply for a Mask Exemption Permit in Dubai

To apply for a mask exemption permit, you will need all of the following documents:

  • A medical report confirming that the patient is suffering from a medical issue that can be aggravated by face masks.
  • Emirates ID details

Your application will be processed within five days. The validity of the permit varies and will depend on the health condition of the individual.
