As one of the Arab region's most popular destinations for work and study, Dubai offers its residents and visitors safety, world class healthcare, education, and a vibrant city life.
Now, Dubai ranked as the world's third safest city to visit for solo female travellers, according to a new study conducted by UK-based travel company InsureMyTrip.
The emirate scored high ratings for women feeling confident walking alone at night, safety from attacks, "has a very low crime rate and is considered a safe place to travel as a woman, with the majority of public transport in Dubai offering a 'women's only' section," the study stated.
"Everyone deserves to feel safe while traveling. We strive to take the worry out of travel because it should be fun," said Suzanne Morrow, Senior VP of the British travel company.
"We hope this study empowers more women to travel, with or without a companion," she added.
If you're looking for ideas for your next solo trip, here are the study's findings on the world's safest recommended cities to visit in 2022 for women, and the least-ranked destinations.

Top 5 safest cities for solo female travellers
The top five safest cities in the world ranked in the 2022 study are as follows, with Medina, Chiang Mai, and Dubai taking the top three spots.
- Medina, Saudi Arabia - 10 out of 10
- Chiang Mai, Thailand - 9.06 out of 10
- Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 9.04 out of 10
- Kyoto, Japan - 9.02 out of 10
- Macau, China - 8.75 out of 10
Now, does this list mean that the cities are 100% safe? As an expat in Dubai who has lived in this beautiful city for over 20 years, and has travelled to 50+ countries, I say of course not - there is no such thing.
However, in mine and loads of other expat women's experience, we agree that Dubai is much safer and calmer than others.
Top 5 least safe cities for solo female travellers
