Your Dubai Metro Commute Just Got Easier

Do you commute on a daily basis using Dubai's metro services? Well, now your journey will be a whole lot easier... And a little less crammed!

Thanks to changes to the peak-hour journeys on all of Dubai Metro's lines, you'll begin and end your working day with less elbows in your side, or stranger's stepping on your toes. Afer all, nobody enjoys being squashed into a carriage, after all. And it's not the best way to begin your working day.

What are the changes, and how will they help me?
The Roads and Transport Authortiy (RTA) recently announced the addition of several more trips to the metro's network in an effort to ease commuter congestion. In fact, over 276 more journeys per week will be added to the timetable, all for the morning rush. 

Out of the 276, 154 have been introduced to the Red Line, and 122 on the Green Line. 

It's important to point out that these additional journeys each day are primarily for the purpose of easing rush-hour congestion, and do not apply to the entire daily timetable currently in place.

Nonetheless, the additional journeys are most definitely a welcome change for commuters who use the Dubai Metro at its busiest, every day. No longer will you have to stand, wait and watch two or three trains pass you by. 

Why do they need to introduce additional journeys?
Anyone who lives and works in Dubai can appreciate the bustle of rush-hour. While it seems to last all day, every day, realistically there are times of the day at which commuting can become just a little unbearable. 

Before the new timetable, RTA had just 71 trains operating during peak hours, from 7am to 9am and 4.30pm to 8pm. The Green Line had a five-minute gap between trains, and there was a 2.5 minute wait between the metro on the popular Red Line. 

Where will the increased journeys operate?
To accommodate early morning passengers, three additional short trips are operated each day from Saturday to Thursday, and five additional trips on Friday on the Red Line. 

On weekdays, two trips will head towards the Rashidiya direction, and the other towards UAE Exchange. On Fridays, three will head in the Rashidiya direction, and two will be UAE Exchange bound.

Are you a weekday traveller? Here's the new routes that might prove very useful for you:

1. Dubai Internet City at 6:07am and reach Al Rashidiya at 6:55am
2. Al Jafiliya at 6:27am and reach Al Rashidiya at 6.50am
3. Burjuman at 6:02am and reach UAE Exchange at 6:52am 

For Fridays, the changes are:

1. Dubai Internet City at 10:14am and reach Al Rashidiya at 11:02am
2. Business bay at 10:23am and reach Al Rashidiya at 10:56am
3. Burjuman at 10:13am and reach Al Rashidiya at 10:51am
4. Deira City Centre at 10:05am and reach UAE Exchange at 11:02am
5. Al Jafiliya at 10:06am and reach UAE Exchange at 10:56am

For Saturdays, the three additional journeys are as follows:

1. Dubai Internet City at 6:03am and reach Al Rashidiya at 6:51am
2. Al Jafiliya at 6:21am and reach UAE Exchange at 6:44am
3. Burjuman at 6:02am and reach UAE Exchange at 6:52am

The other added trips will cover the same usual routes, but they'll be more frequent throughout the peak times.
