Hospital Lab in Dubai Receives CAP Accreditation

The  American Hospital Dubai (AHD) Laboratory was recently accredited for the ninth consecutive time by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), this is after passing the latter’s rigorous onsite inspections and evaluation procedures. This accomplishment is the latest in a string of recognition bestowed on the Laboratory Department and the hospital as a whole for their efforts to provide excellent and high-quality patient care and healthcare services. 

 

During the CAP accreditation process designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, the CAP inspectors examined the Laboratory Department’s records and quality control procedures for the past two years. They also studied the qualifications of the laboratory staff, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management. 

The American federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program launched in the early 1960s as being equal to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program. The American Hospital Dubai’s laboratory was the first private lab in the Middle East to earn accreditation by the CAP 2001.

The AHD is a 254-bed, acute care, general medical/surgical private hospital with a multi-specialty physician group practice. It is also the first hospital in the Middle East to be awarded JCI accreditation in May 2000 and has successfully maintained its accreditation.
