When it comes to organising our homes - and lives - some of us just can't seem to find the motivation. But it needn't be a huge effort if you follow some simple rules to make sure clutter doesn't stack up. So if you find that your home has become a hotbed of things you no longer use or really need, it's time to sort things out!
1. Work on one room, shelf, cabinet...
2. Make de-cluttering fun
3. Be ruthless
4. Get rid of the sentimental mentality in every object
5. Donate everything
6. Don't let unessential things get into your home in the first place
7. Follow the 'one in, one out' rule
8. De-clutter every day
9. Designate an area in your home
10. File documents immediately
File your paper documents immediately as you receive that bill in the mail or when you get home from the store, or throw them out if they are not required. Scanning and keeping electronic records is a great way to save physical space.
