Thinking of hiring a full-time maid? Want to know how much it costs? Then this is the article for you. Here are all the costs and procedures you can expect when hiring a full-time maid vs a full-time contract maid.
Full time live in maid
What it means:
A full-time maid is an employee placed under your sponsorship and living in your house.

AED 15,000-18,000 recruitment cost.
Residency cost: *
- Visa: AED 3,000 (yearly)
- Application Typing: AED 110 (yearly)
- Security Deposit: AED 2000 (refundable, one-time cost)
- Medical Insurance: AED 800 (mandatory by law, annual expense)
- Emirates ID: AED 200 (mandatory by law, annual expense)
AED 800 - AED 3000 (there is a minimum salary based on nationality that is mandated by law)
Holidays: *
AED 2000 for round trip airfare. This is a negotiable point that must be written in the contract. However a 30 day paid holiday per year is mandated by law.
Housing:
- You are responsible to provide housing for your maid
- The conditions must be adequate for life (i.e: bed, running fresh water, ventilated air, no toxic products in the area of residence, refrigeration and toilet)
- You will either need to provide a separate fridge for her food or make space in your fridge.
Up to 48 hours per week or 8 hours a day as mandated by the UAE labor law. Your maid is entitled for one day off a week. Working schedule is flexible.
Responsibilities:
- You are hiring domestic assistance. Your maid will assist you in all chores related to keeping the house clean and tidy.
- You cannot subject your maid to hard physical labor, or unregulated, unlawful and unsolicited activity.

Full time live out maid
What it means:
A live-out maid means you have contracted a maid to come to your home 8 hours a day for a specific fee.

What it costs: *
AED 2500-AED 4500 per month
Residency cost:
Your contracted maid is permitted by law to a 30 day holiday. During your maid’s holiday, you will be provided with a trained replacement.
