Add "matchmaker" to the list of reasons American singer and song-writer Lionel Richie is a romance legend.

In a touching moment at the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival last Thursday 27th February, R&B artist Lionel Richie took a moment from his performance to help UAE resident Sean propose to his girlfriend two-three songs into the show.

Richie serenaded "Three Times a Lady" while playing on the grand piano, setting the romantic ambience as the two hugged and enjoyed the music on-stage.

And with that, the spotlight turned to the lovely couple as the suitor got down on bended knee and proposed to his teary-eyed fiancee Dani. Happy to say that she said yes as the massive crowd of jazz fans at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre went wild.

Richie, who has received an impressive number of awards including four Grammy Awards and an Academy Award, is no stranger to the UAE. He has performed in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi in past events such as the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

At this year's edition of Dubai Jazz Fest, the 70-year old Motown icon betrayed nothing of his age, bringing his youthful energy and signature glamour with a sporty jacket emblazoned with the shimmering word "Hello" on the back.

When he wasn't running and performing up and down the stage, Richie would be delivering hits and his wits while on the piano.

The pop performer had the crowd singing and swaying along to chart-toppers like "We Are the World", "Easy (Like Sunday Morning)", and "Stuck On You".

His Dubai Jazz Fest setlist and proposal highlight gave the Dubai crowd what they came for - the romance, funky tracks, and ballads that had them belting along, all night long.
