The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is back from Jan 29 to Feb 13
There are few people in this world who don’t need more than one name; you know instantly who they are without surnames, job titles or descriptions.
Malala is certainly one of those names.
As the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, her story is known all around the world.
"When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful,” she famously said, but how does a child find the courage to be that voice? How does one teenage girl stand up to the Taliban and fight for her right to education? The details behind the headlines are not as known. We know she survived after being shot in the head at almost point-blank range on the bus coming home from school, but what led up to that moment?
The book 'I Am Malala' is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls' education, of a father who championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school. It is a moving and inspiring story that needs to be heard, and puts the headlines into context.
The whole world is now asking what is next. What do you do when you have already won a Nobel Peace Prize and graduated from Oxford at the age of 23?

"One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world," she said.
Her session at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is guaranteed to inspire us all to change the world for the better.
