Another dry night is set to fall on Saturday, August 31, 2019 before Islamic New Year

Dubai will be having a dry night from 6:30 PM Saturday, August 31 until 7:30 PM on Sunday, September 1. During this time, bars and restaurants across the city will not serve anything other than soft beverages.

The Dubai Government's Human Resources Department announced that both the public and private sector will enjoy an official paid holiday on Sunday, September 1. The long weekend is in honour of the Islamic New Year, or Al Hijri.

Students across the UAE will also return to school a day later to accommodate the public holiday. The new school year for 2019 - 2020 in the UAE is now on Monday, September 2. Initially, the new academic year was on September 1.
