Public parking across Dubai will be free in celebration of the Islamic New Year
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that fees will be waived at all parking areas during Al Hijri, with an exception for multilevel car parks,
The Dubai human resources authority announced earlier in August that the public and private sectors will enjoy an official day off on Muharram 1, Hijri 1441, which is expected to fall on Sunday, September 1, 2019. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
Other RTA services affected by the holiday include the public metro and customer happiness centres. Metros operating on the Red Line will run from 5 AM until midnight during Islamic New Year, and the Green Line will from 5:30 AM to midnight.
All RTA customer happiness centres will be closed during Al Hijri, however the Smart Customer Happiness Centres located at the RTA Head Office and Umm Al Ramool will be operating 24/7.
Dubai Tram will be operating from Saturday to Thursday from 6 AM to 1 AM (of the following day). On Friday, the tram service hours will be from 9 AM to 1 AM (of the following day).
RTA buses will operate during the holiday as follows:
Main bus stations including Gold Souq will operate from 4:25 AM to 1 AM (of the following day).
Ghubaiba bus station will be in service from 4:26 AM to 00:43 AM (of the following day).
Sub-stations, including Satwa bus station, will run from 5 AM to 11 PM, except for Route C01 which operate around-the-clock.
The Al Qusais bus station timings will be from 4:34 AM until 00:08 AM (past midnight).
Al Quoz Industrial bus station will open from 5 AM until 11:35 PM.
Jebel Ali bus station will operate from 5 AM and will end service at 11:22 PM.
