The UAE National Day celebrations will have a new name that is central to the nation's "identity, symbolising heritage, unity, strength, and national pride", confirmed by the country's organising committee on Tuesday.
The official name, 'Eid Al Etihad', emphasises on the spirit of the 'union' (etihad) and marks the unification of the seven emirates on December 2, 1971. The special occasion is typically celebrated across the country with several family-fun events, parades, air shows, fireworks, and more.

A move towards more sustainable National Day celebrations
"We are delighted to invite everyone to share in the joy of this historic moment, as we celebrate the unification of the seven emirates," said Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the Organising Committee of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad Celebration.
UAE residents are also invited to participate in Eid Al Etihad this year by minimising waste through recycling or upcycling materials.
"To support these festivities, we have created comprehensive guides to inspire and assist in preparations to celebrate sustainably," Alsubousi added.
Government entities, private companies, schools, and families are encouraged to download these resources and join in marking this significant celebration.
