We stepped back in time and enjoyed the atmosphere of Bastakiya, one of the oldest traditional Emirati neighbourhoods in Bur Dubai. Experienced SMCCU tour guides took our group for a walk through the unique narrow sikkas and beautiful wind towers that adorn the original residences of this historic district. The tour also included a visit to the Bastakiya Mosque. We then returned to the SMCCU house for a cultural discovery Q&A session and were treated to Arabic tea, coffee and dates and a traditional Emirati lunch served in the calming ambience of their Bastakiya house. We really enjoyed chatting with our Emirati host, Nasif, about UAE culture, customs and religion.
