Hi all
Following on from the dental thread - what are average prices here in Doha for a clean, filling and root canal please? Have heard that it's very expensive here, compared to Dubai (know that this can vary enormously from dentist to dentist though). Anyone willing to share what they have paid here?
Thanks

I have braved it and was pleasantly surprised. (Airport Health Centre). Had a wait of 10 minutes and then went for consult. Very gentle female dentist, she removed a loose wisdom tooth and I did not even feel it. Should note here I am a complete "wuss" when it comes to dentists, but she put me at ease. They only do fillings, cleaning & extractions at the health centre & then refer you to Rumeilah Dental for any further surgery etc.

DebK Dentists name is Thelma, she is fantastic, soo caring. I had an extraction with stitches and she even called me at home to make sure I was ok. I've taken all my kids there too and they love her.:)

Went to Majestic Dental Center today (Near Burger King Roundabout) and quite liked the dentist I saw. (Unfortunately I can't remember her name at the moment, but will be seeing her a few more times over the next few weeks so can update that after my appointment next week.) She was very personable and professional... My Xray + Consultation cost 200 QAR My husband had a filling done for 500 QAR She only charged me for the xray and consultation but also extracted the half of my tooth that had broken off at the root so was still dangling there in my mouth (Oops!) and put in a temporary filling. I have to go back next Tuesday for additional work and although she can't tell me exact prices yet as she wasn't able to see clearly all that will need to be done due to it bleeding, she has estimated that it will be 600 QAR for the post and 2500 QAR for the crown. Which will obviously be done over a few appointments. The prices aren't really all that bad when compared to Canada, but I still can't help but think of the trips I could take with that money.... ;) ~ Deb

Went back to Dr. Sarah's again today to get my filling fixed (673 QR) and for wisdom teeth xrays (460 QR). Filling repair was fine, no pain at all. I'm happy with Dr. Zareena in that regard. After I had the xrays done, we went back into the room and she immediately started talking about when I was going to make the appointment to have my teeth pulled. Umm... shouldn't we talk about this first??! Wait, so I DO have to get all four pulled? I asked and she went back to talking about the appointments. I asked again for the reason why I should have them taken out (All of my teeth are perfectly straight so there was nothing obvious to me in the xray). I was never given a straight answer and left completely unconvinced. I will not be going back there and needless to say I didn't make an appointment with the oral surgeon.

Ditto on the horror that this place is still open for business after this....never went back after I found out.

We went to Dr Sarah's two years ago after reading great reviews about the clinic. We found that they tried to make maximum use of the AXA dental coverage we have with DH and kids and hence we never went back.

I was thinking to post the same lulubaker. It is actually shocking to me that the clinic stayed in business after those 2 dentists were exposed. Once might be forgivable as a one-off mistake, but twice just seemed to scream out poor judgement on someone's part!

Thanks Joos, I will give it a go and make sure I am extra strong about saying no to things while I'm there. I have AXA too. Sorry Chizz for hijacking your thread :)

I knew I had a broken filling and had been told by my dentist in the US that I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. Will go back again on Thursday to have xrays done for the final word. I did feel pressure to get the flouride treatment though! I chose Dr. Sarah's because it is the only place covered both by AXA and BCBS, both which I have. That way if I exceed either limit I can use the second insurance. I have no complaints about the job Dr. Zareena did though. Keep in mind it was only my first visit.

I am soooo confused about what to do, as I have heard nothing but bad reports about Dr Sarah's. I even have a friend who used to work there and she has nothing good to say about it either! I have heard that they push you into as much (unnecessary) treatment as possible to extract money from you and looking at joos' bill that would certainly seem to be the case..... Joos did you already need the filling repair and wisdom teeth removal, or was it suggested at the consultation at Dr. Sarah's?

Hi there. Here is what I paid yesterday at Dr. Sarah's: Dental examination fee: 252.80 Super salt scale and polish: 368.00 Small digital radiograph: 68.00 (2x, one for each side of mouth) Flouride treatment: 202.40 (probably not necessary but I haven't been to the dentist in years so figured I'd get it..) Will update with more.. getting a filling repaired on Thurs and then wisdom teeth out later :-/ But no cavities!! edited by joos on 02/01/2012 edited by joos on 02/01/2012
