I may have an opportunity in AD but part of the requirement is that I relocate there rather than commute from Dubai. Just wondering what the situation for primary schools in AD, for Year 2 and nursery in 2013. I am looking for a British curriculum school or American and finally as a last resort Canadian.

Any advice on waiting lists availability etc would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks ladies, thats really helpful. I genuinely have no idea as we've been in Dubai for so long. Thanks at least I now know where to start!

We have recently relocated from Dubai to AD (however we did live in AD perviously as well) There are lots of option in AD, don't just assume Al Kubarait is is the only option - personally- have never liked the school myself but thats just a personal thing., but plenty of parent I know with kids there like it ..other options are Pearl Primary, Al Yasmina, BISAD (British International School Abu Dhabi) Brighton College, Gems Amercian, I would visit all and get a feel for them....my two boys have attended the Pearl, Al Yasmina and they were great, they are currently at BISAD and this is a fairly new school but they have settled really well. Good luck with your search

When I lived in AD years ago, the school to go to was Al Kubarait (sp). Apparently its akin to DESS< JESS etc

waiting lists are still high for the lower years, brighton college obviously opened this year so will have taken the slack a little, gems american opened new this year too. aldar are opening a new primary school in a couple of years so that may be ok for you. cis here should be able to accommodate you, you have a better chance there
