Recently went to 101 at the new One and Only on the palm for our anniversary - so romantic sitting out by the water looking back on the nighttime skyline of dubai.

Hmm ... the entertainment part, at least for me, is the tricksy one. There aren't a lot of places in Dubai that do both, at least not with the lovely food you're after. ;) However, you can always find sensational food [Italian'> at BiCE at the Hilton Jumeirah. The service there, imho, is incomparable; the waitrons really know their work, know their wine, and are quite frankly, among the best in Dubai. Wonderful wine list, and there always seems to be a 'truffle promotion' [Mmmm!'> which makes for some incredibly lush dishes. The atmosphere is fairly relaxed too, so you can rock up in smart casual and not feel out of place. I think the food is the thing here; it's certainly THE reason to go. After dinner, you can saunter up to the Sky Bar for one of the best views in Dubai, out over the water and across to Atlantis. There is a piano player on 'weekend nights' who plays a selection of easy-listening jazz, the seats are comfy, the service solicitous ... it's got a lovely modern yet old-world gentleman's 'bar-feel'. And should you feel so inclined, you can spend the entire evening in the Sky Bar, from start to finish, from sunset [glorious'> to 'whenever', because BiCE also provides a limited menu [still with the same great service'> which can be delivered from the restaurant downstairs to your damask-laid table in the bar. We have often taken advantage of this service, esp. late in the evening [last orders 11pm'>. Very romantic way to spend the night too. Montgomerie also has a lovely restaurant -- 19 -- in Emirates Hills and on certain nights of the week, it too offers 'entertainment' in the form of a guitar/salsa-type band. There are jazz offerings on other nights too, but you will have to check with the restaurant as to what is on when. The food is lovely, and they must have a fantastic sommelier on staff because there are wines on offer there which are only available 'cellar door' elsewhere and while not cheap, those wine prices are fantastic for Dubai. Am a huge fan. The food is also delish; DH reckons he has eaten the Best EVER fish there [it was monkfish, as I recall'> because it was perfectly cooked, beautifully served and HOT as well [can you believe it?! lol'>. Worth a trip, but the decor [gulp'> is a bit mod-trapped-in-the-eighties on the inside ... I'd be requesting an outside table looking over the links, because it's a perfect time of year to enjoy the last remaining 'winter' days ... Well, that's two from me. Let's see what others suggest! :D

What elements do you require to make the evening fun? Good wine list? Sensational food? Great view? A place where you can dress up to the nines and not feel like you've overdone it or somewhere which is more casual? Fantastic service? Entertaining/fun service [eg teppan yaki or table-cookery'>? Great hotel with 'after bars' in which to relax post-meal? International cuisine or something more specialist eg Thai, Italian French/Asian fusion? Cheap and cheerful or an no-holds-barred blow-out?! There are several places DH and I adore for any and all of the above, but if you provide a bit more detail, I -- and other EW'ers! -- might be able to point you in the right direction for your perfect evening. :)
