Dear all,
would really appreciate info on secondary international schools.we live in Borneo at the moment, due to move to Abu Dhabi in July 2011.browsed through few schools website,BSAK waiting list,GEMS no reply,AISEM delivery failed...Brighton too costly etc
it will be good to know people that are already there in Abu Dhabi to help me sort out the schools...I'm getting frustrated.
we will be staying around the stadium area(according to husband employer).good to have school nearby but if no choice willing to travel.
noticed that busybee2 is active in this forum.....please help me busybee2.thanks

BISAD...they have space for my daughter in secondary!!!where there's a prob :-)yet to decide because have to consider what's the best. BSAK also replied but was told there's about 15 waiting list for Sept entry(year 9).I wonder why BSAK charge the most expensive entry fee-AED9,000? I would prefer BSAK as it's well established.what do u think?between BISAD and BSAK.. Yasmina no more taking new student. bsak is a non profit school and the way they deal with money for the overheads is an entry fee which used to be the same as a terms fees, but as the tuititon fees have been raised over 50% in the last few years they havent increased the entry fee the same so that 9k fee could actually have been nearly twice that fee. what i know. bisad have had problems with senior school. they are being good telling you that you that there is 15 people ahead of you. what i would do, is pay the 500 dhs to secure place at bisad just in case and still hope that over the summer a place becomes available at bsak. there is no way of knowing how many people will leave but going into year 9 this year a lot did leave because a lot go on to boarding schools etc at year 9. this year year 9 and 10 had the most leavers but whose to say thats going to be the same next year. i have known people to get given a place at preferred school a few days into the new term, and then have moved to preferred school. bsak will only ask for the entry fee on acceptance of a place. so all you will loose is paying up the 500 dhs to each other school.

al bateen think i said in previous replies said from al jazira to al bateen would be at rush hour perhaps 15 mins. al jazira is on 2nd and 4th and new al bateen school is on 28th st. so you would go from 4th to 2nd to 24th to 26th to 28th streets. you would also go from 19th st to 17th to 15th 13th and its just on 11th street. so basicially over 5 streets and down 5 streets. if you google al jazira mohd. bin zayed football stadium its on the corner of 19th st (al saada st) next to the Civil Defence and close to the Police GCHq.

hi busybee2, I knew I could count on you.thanks for your prompt reply. My daughter will be in year 9 next school year. I would prefer British Curriculum. It will be good to continue. right then you need to get your applications in as you are already late. bsak were taking applications 1st feb and aldar schools before that. you can download the forms and email them all the information you can, obviously the visa part there is two letters that are provided on the bsak application information i think from memory its the second one, the one thats says the visa is being processed etc. as long as the employer sends that then to a point it doesnt matter too much with regard to that box being ticked. if you are going to be living there then my choice would be: bsak as its just across the road, brighton college, this school will be new september 2011 going up to year 9 al bateen (on island but prob 10 mins journey from there this is a new aldar school too) al yasmina (off island prob 25 mins drive) bisad, off island 25 mins fees all much the same, when you add in all the costs give or take a few thousand. brighton college and al bateen are brand new schools still being built so they will have teething problems as al yasmina did when it opened 3 years ago. bisad is a new school this year, has had many teething problems change of staff etc

near al jazira is bsak just across the road from there. if you are looking for british curriculum your choices are: bsak, al yasmina (aldar) al muna (aldar primary) the pearl (aldar primary) bisad (off island new school this year) all bateen (new school sept 2011 secondary only but they are adding some primary years temporarily up to year 4) brighton college up to year 9 new school sept 2011. raha school off island ib curriculum tho. if you give me an idea of what years you are after?
