Hi ladies,
I have a relative (girl) who wet her bed until very late until it eventually stopped - maybe definitiely around 1 or 11 years old. The interesting thing is that at aorund 25 she went to a doctor (don't know the speciality) because of some back ache. She took some X-rays and then the doctor told her: you probably wet the bed until late, right?
yes, she was surprised with his question but it seems that there is some 'bone formation' that justifies that. I do not know details but she was very happy to know that there was a reason for it and it was not her being careless as some people would suggest while she was still doing it. Her mother, however, is a lovely lady and did what this doctor said - never shout at he ror punish her and always being understanding.
I can't say whether there is a 'cure' for this (I asked her before posting but she doesn't know either as by the time the problem was solved and she didn't discuss it with the doctor) or whether the problem is the same for boys and girls but hope I have given you so helpful clues.
My daughter is 11 and has been wet 4-5 nights a week forever. We had a pediatrician and urologist check her out in US, both said the same thing...when she's ready yadaa yadaa. We've tried the bed wetting alarm, waking her up every night, medication from dr etc, nothing worked.
A couple of weeks ago I read about a child who had been helped by a chiropractor. I took my daughter along to my chiropractor, she's just had her third visit today. Knock on wood, we have had 14 dry nights out of 17 so far!!!! My daughter is ecstatic! The chiro explained bed wetting is often caused by weak muscles. Whatever the problem...it has worked for us so far!
At 11 its time for a trip to a urologist. My son was still wetting the bed at 11, and after much soul searching we put him on the medication. He took exactly one tablet and never wet the bed again. If I had my time over again i would have given them to him years earlier.
Hi I am so desperate too to find a solution for our 7 year old who has never been dry at night - tried it all and even some meds - which then scared us a bit (hormones) and we stopped. countless wet beds (despite a pull-up every night which is costing us a fortune (and bad for the environment)...Will try below but has anybody else got a "magical" solution??? At some stage he had an immature bladder but now not sure - need to go again to have it checked.
