Hi

would you know any other hotel/resort than Banyas Tree RAK and Qasr Al Sarab, similar in UAE?
Im looking to celebrate wedding aniversary with long weekend break (done Al Maha, Zigghy Bay, Bab Al Shams, FUJ hotels already, also not very interested in Desert Islands/Sir BaniYas)

Also would somebody please look into Travel Entertainer book to see if there are coupons for either Banyas Tree RAK or Qasr Al Sarab? tried to search on their website but it seems I cant search Travel book

many thanks

I have just booked Yas Hotel at the normal rack rate for the first night, which is around AED650 and the second night is free, but you still have to pay the taxes for the second night. There was a cheaper price of AED550, but that was a web-special price, which could only be booked online. Unfortunately, with the travel vouchers, you cannot just enter a promo code online, as you have to physically call the hotel. I still think it is a good deal nevertheless, but I too wondered if you could still use the vouchers when they have promotions on the rates, i.e. during the summer special rates. The conditions on the vouchers say that there may be certain black-out dates and only so many Entertainer vouchers can be accepted by the hotel on any given date, therefore you could try and use the voucher and it could not be accepted (i.e. during peak periods, etc) I can't comment on that, as I have only booked using the vouchers this one time. I suppose people will voice their concerns on EW or to The Entertainer if they are unable to use the vouchers in due course. As it's a new venture, it's early days to know how easy it will be be able to use the vouchers during certain times of the year....but you could e-mail The Entertainer and ask them any questions you have - they always get back to me pretty quickly.... Edited: Just reading the conditions, it says that the vouchers can be used towards the Best Available Rate or Package Rate, not the Advance Purchase Rate and cannot be combined with other discount offers. Therefore I'm guessing not during the summer specials. Also says that you may not be able to use the vouchers during public holidays or peak periods...may just depend on the hotel in many cases as to whether they accept them or not.... edited by chizz on 06/01/2011

Has anyone used any of these vouchers yet. Are the hotels giving you a free night even if you are not paying the ''rack rate'' Sometimes you are better off paying for 2 discounted nights rather than 1 night at the ''rack rate''.

Well, the book is AED395, so you would still save lots by using the one voucher, esp. at Banyan Tree if you were to buy it....I know it is a shame to buy the book just to use one voucher though - I will probably only use a few myself.... But thats the joy of the books you save so much so even if you only use "some" the savings are enormous !

There is only 1 Banyan tree voucher in the travel book, instead of the usual 3 in the Main/Fine Dining books, which is a shame...Not sure if the summer specials start that early - would give the hotel a call and find out when the offers start, as you can save lots!.... Also if you call the hotel direct and say that you are a UAE/GCC resident, they can give discounts too.... edited by chizz on 05/01/2011 oh, I didnt realize that is the case with only one voucher per hotel :( anyway will see if I can get better rate....

I have the Travel book and Banyan Tree Al Wadi, RAK is in there - Buy One Night, Get One Free - am looking to do it myself this year. The other hotels you mention are not in the book for the free night offer...you will get good summer special deals, but your anniversary may be well before then... edited by chizz on 05/01/2011 Thanks looking at May/June, so far Banyan Tree is 1684 per night and Qasr is around 990 per night, quite a diffrence I really would like one Banyan Tree Al Wadi voucher if anybody has a spare one pleeese :) thank you Maybe you should offer to buy a voucher if there is only one in there ? Bit cheeky eh consdiering the savings ?
