I am about to take the plunge and buy wallpaper from Laura Ashley for the master bedroom...it is quite "rich" wallpaper, do I do all the walls or what... Pls help, I am hopeless when it comes to decorating! The room is big and has an alcove and has a lot of light...are feature walls "out" or "in"... Tia

It is very hard to comment on the rights and wrongs for your bedroom without actually seeing it. It sounds like you have all the right things to make it work, maybe it just needs some tweaking. :)

I also purchased a loud print wallpaper from Laura Ashsley. HOWEVER they charge a lot to put it up! I have wallpaper from Damas in Satwa and they were much lower. seeif they will put it up for you. Also they are water based and I could not smell anything. I know someone who got wallpaper from DragonMart and the smell was horrendous!!! if you have children dont use them!!! I must say that the wallpaper we put up in the hallway has the one "theme wall"- the darker louder one. in less than one year I am bored of it and heard you get bored quickly of wallpaper that is loud

I did a feature wall with Isodora cranberry and linen from Laura Ashley. The pattern is large(ish). Ever since, I feel that it's not blending in with the rest of the room, even though I bought all the matching items. (cushions, throws, etc, from the same shop). I think it would have been better to chose a wallpaper that's not so "loud". What wallpaper did you get? You can make "pictures" out of pieces of the wallpaper which may help tie it in with the other walls. :)

I think next time I would chose a wallpaper that's a two toned one from the same shade (even the isodora rage has linen base with cream flowers so there is interest to the wall but it's not busy). The paper looked VERY different once on the wall. Do go and have a look at the display in the shop to help you imagine it in your home.

Thanks Estelle, we were actually worried about that with that design as we both immediately liked it. We are going to Laura Ashley today as I want my DH to see then actual paper on a wall, they do have a number of walls there that feature different designs. I will report back later! I am getting someone to do it for me as innate zero patience!!

I would also only do one wall, which is 'in' at least in western taste still. I do sometimes see very rich colours on all the walls, but I notice this seems to be more arab/indian taste. Generally the rule is that rich colours on all the walls make the room very dark (or too busy if it's patterned). Also it's easier and cheaper to do just the feature wall!
