Making a Headboard

I would like to have a simple headboard made - similar wood to Ikea furniture - just a plain front, the width of the bed that can be painted, and about 3-4" coming out from the wall - the top part could be used to display frames etc. I think it would be a very easy project for someone (probably more annoying than anything LOL) - so does anyone have any recommendations? Or is it possible to just go to Satwa, find a workshop and get something made up? Has anyone done this? Thanks.
