a cat belonging to a neighbour keeps on urinating and poo-ing near ny brand new bbq which i haven't even had a chance to use yet! i've never had a cat before so just want to ask pet owners out there why this may be happening. I thought cats bury their business in the sand? not sure why it comes onto my terrace and does it's business near the bbq? very unpleasant and off -putting and a health hazard!
i know who the cat belongs to- should i complain or can i do something else to deter the cat?
thanks for any advice....

maybe another cat has sprayed the BBQ or the BBQ area without your noticing? Try wiping down the BBQ with a bleach mix and also the area surrounding - then setting out bowls of vinegar and see if that helps? And yes, do complain - if it were my cat then I'd be looking after solving the problem, not you.

yes sueB only since the new bbq came.. which has not been used yet so there is no food smell.. i'll try the vinegar- just white vinegar? i don't want to harm it... will also tell the owners- let's hope they are reasonable about it! thank you

yup, I would tell then. Did he only start doing this since you got the new bbq? there might be the new smell that is bothering him lol... or, he might need to go to the vet. Put out a couple of bowls of vinegar around where he goes and see if that works. Do not put pepper, chilli powder or anything else down...you could try water but that rarely works for long, but, tell them.
