I have written a few posts over the last few days as my husband is in Dubai looking for our new home & me & the baby are back in the UK waiting to come out once he has the keys to the new place & a bit of furniture!! We were set on Springs 1, 2 or 3 but have struggled to find a lake view which is what we really wanted. Today he has looked at Arabian ranches, Alba, Palmera & Alreem & said there are some really lovely villas up there. I really want us to feel settled & find the right place. I'd love to hear from any of you ladies that live in these areas or know them & where you would chose for area?? Thanks so much, its very hard being in the UK & not seeing them but my husband is doing a very good job going here, there & everywhere trying to find us something!!

you can get a 2 bed in AR + study Type 4m for AED 80,000 2 bed AR, private pool, 2 bed plus study fully furnished for AED120,000 a 3 bed in Victory heights, Estella Village plus study for 120,000 a 2 bed in Palm Jumeriah - type d in Al saroud for 140,000 and a 3 plus maids plus study bed in springs 2 for 135,000 Just a few ideas ..

If you want to call it a lake it's next to sandpit that i can see outside our garden. Its between Alma and the golfclub parking. ah ok... know where it is then. hmmm past there a few times and never saw a "lake" must look harder next time! lol

Wow simpleasabc, your friends were being robbed big time for the Reems. We pay 115,000 for our 2e in the Reems. Our friends who have a huge swimming pool, added maids/pool room and enormous back yard in Reem 3 only pay 165,000. We paid 130k for 3 br + maids, nice garden almost opposite the pool. We were shown one in al reem at 130k and one in palmera at 125k (but it was 2 br + study). Out of curiosity... where is the lake in Alma?

no worries simpleasabc! The Saheels are lovely .... big and nice gardens too. thought I'd just mention it as I know how difficult it is when you're new to Dubai and don't know the areas etc, and it's easy to dismiss somewhere if you think it's out of your price range. Ranches is lovely and we've loved living here, we're just moving to something bigger for our budget now that we've found our feet in Dubai and I'm not daunted by driving.

260,000 in Al Reem???? That's very very expensive, you could have a Saheel or Mirador for that (the posher stand alone villas in Ranches) - I think max for Al Reem would be about 170,000 and that would have to be a 4 bed with a lovely garden and lake view ..... We paid 150,000 two years ago, 130,000 last year and although we're moving out this next month the type 3M here in Reem 3 is 115,000 this year. DH looked at Springs when he first got here, said it was not for us (looks a little tired) - came up to Ranches and knew I would love it. Pools are lovely and clean and the walk round the lake in Al Reem is fab, nice community feel. Alma's lake is now filled and hopefully should be landscaped soon. Good luck!!

Sorry I can't help with accommodation advice, only ever been in apartments. Re the driving, take the advice given on this forum and do it as soon as you can. I faffed around for too long with taxis, being a passenger etc (big mistake.) Still trying to pluck up the courage. Good luck with your move.

He thinks i'll really like it & as you have said, he says its great for being near shops etc. My only worry is driving as its further out by quite a bit I think to the springs?? I'm so nervous about the driving but guess this would throw me in right at the deep end which may be a good thing! I'd have to get driving quicker. What is the traffic like around there? Is it an easy drive to the malls etc Thanks again x It's an easier drive from Ar to mall of the emirates than from the springs you turn onto umm sequel road from Ar and go straight! No awful roadworks like the roads around springs. Much easier to get to anywhere from Ar IMO.

I'm in Springs 2 and there are a number of rentals available. Unfortunately I don't think any face the lake but there is one across the road from me on St6 which is a block away from the park which has good facilities for children and a pool. It is being rented through Better Homes. It's also a 10 minute walk to the shops which is handy.

Completely useless contribution - I'm so jealous - when we were looking Sept/Oct there was nothing as nice for the money we had. Our friends, who have now left, were paying around AED 260,000 for theirs in Al Reem (I think, I am currently brain dead - 3 or 4 bed with pool in AR, anyway) and though husbad was friend's manager in the same company, his housing allowance now is far, far less than that, so we couldn't afford to take the villa over. I'm still miffed.

Hi Rach28, We live in Alma, Arabian Ranches... absolutely love it. we moved from the UK in December (im now 8 months pregnant) and were living in JBR. I honestly could have gone straight back home living there, hated it. I really wanted somewhere i could feel settled esp with a baby coming, somewhere i could feel at "home". I really feel like Alma AR is that place. The villas are lovely with thier own private back garden, Alma is one of the newest developments in AR so all the villas are about 2 yrs old. The other things i love about Alma (in particular) is you are 5 mins walk from the shopping centre, 5 mins from the golf club and (as with most of the areas in AR) there is a lovely big pool, a baby pool, playpark, tennis court, basketball court, and picnic areas. You can actually walk about here unlike most areas in Dubai (ive noticed). When we were looking for a villa we looked at the same areas as you; Al Reem 1, Palmera, and springs (3,7 & 11). Arabian ranches won hands down for us over springs (just thought the villas were better quality and the public areas were much nicer). Hope this helps.

we've been in Arabian Ranches since October and it's lovely..our villa is a good size with a lovely garden, partial lake view (and it makes a nice round walk), swimming pool, play area and tennis court just round the corner. The retail centre is a 5 minute drive and has a decent supermarket, book store and fast food places etc..

I'm not much help as I don't live at Arabian Ranches but friends of ours do. Arabian Ranches is lovely! If I could choose anywhere in Dubai to live in a villa I would choose either Arabian Ranches or the Lakes (which is next to Springs). If your DH chose a villa in Arabian Ranches I am pretty confident you would be happy there. HTH
