Please be careful. If you get a phone call from someone from Etisalat saying that you have won dhs500,000, please do not give any information out. THIS IS A SCAM. They were asking me loads of questions and when I refused to give them anything and threatened the police, they became very abusive and obscene. If they call please just put the phone done. Take care ladies x

This is still going on ... Just had a call from them. They want you to take your sim card out of your phone and give them the number written on the back of it. Dont do it!

I always try to keep them on the line as long as possible - saying "oh thank you", and "hold on I have to get a pen", "oh thanks I"m so excited, it's come at just the right time, my DH has lost his job" and I carry on telling them all sorts of stories - wasting their airtime and they eventually hang up LOL You sound like my father-in-law and the "double glazing salesmen" in the UK - he always chats to them for ages as it costs him nothing, his Irish ways usually end up gettign the conversation round to their kids, their parents, the weather, anything but the actual purpose of the call. Its his one man campaign to put them out of business through huge phone bills :-) My Dad does a similar thing in the UK, he answers the phone then when they launch into the spiel he says, "Sorry, one minute, somethings on the stove". He pops the phone on the table and leaves it for a few hours!!! Friends can get him on his moby, the company cant use the line cos he hasnt put the phone down and he has peace and quiet! He says he hasn't had a call for a while, strange that . . . . . . !

I get these calls every few weeks, I just let them get their patter out and then say (in a very excited voice!) "What? Me? Again? I won this last week" They hang up very quickly

I managed to get through to the police and spoke to someone giving them all the details. Not that I think it will do any good though, but did make me feel a bit better

Take care ladies x hahaha - I understood that the Etisalat person threatened wiggywig with the police since she was no cooperative and not willing to provide the needed info to get the prize money!!! Sorry, but I don't understand these cases; woudn't there be a celebration and the 500kaed cheque would be handed in a ceremony if that would really happen? One lady I know gave them 40kaed before she realized it was a scam. I just a missed call last night at 1:30am from Nigeria; maybe I have also have won something?!? Actually I threatened them with the police not the other way round

Take care ladies x Yep got this call to one of our company mobiles from a mobile number; he gave a very 'arabic' name and even told me his job title and the dept he was calling from, I wasn't so easily convinced. When I threatened the police he was very rude (to say the least). When I rang Etisalat they told me to call the police and file a report because they can't do anything. I'm sorry but Etisalat don't want to do that, then I'm certainly not wasting my time to do that either. Etisalat, did mention they would never ring anyone from a mobile.

hahah is this the scam where they phone you and deliver the "congratulations you just won dhs500000" in a monotone disinterested manner with what can only be described as Deira traffic in the background (i am not insinuating anything :-P) sorry to hear they got abusive with you...i think a few choice words in return before hitting the red key would come from these here parts...
