I stayed in Golden Sands 10 a few years ago too, huge 2 bedroom apt, very clean. It was next to an empty building site...and still is...so you're not looking directly into the windows of the building next door. Two of the other Golden Sands blocks, 3 and 5, are used for transiting/overnight stay airline passengers and those two buildings are definitely past their best.

We stayed in Golden Sands over ten years ago when we came here on holiday, can't remember which number, but even then the place was quite a dump. Fine if you just need somewhere cheap to stay but nothing to shout about.

Haven't stayed there but it is close to Burjuman and walking distance to the Metro. It is in old Dubai so I guess it depends what you need to be close to. I am sure you have looked at their website http://www.goldensandsdubai.com/index.php?act=blockdetail&goldensandId=3 There is a link to a map there
