I have a maid for a month now and cannot decide to keep her or send her.

The summary is I have a toddler and a baby and may need help with the baby care too.

This maid was not babysitting but just cleaning in her previous house.

Pros: She is excellent with cleaning and the house work. My house is clean and tidy all the time without telling her. She is very fast and energetic. She comes from an Arabic family where she had to wear uniforms etc, so she was very happy to work with me in our relax environment.

Cons: For a few days she walks around with an angry face, and acts out. She says a loud 'YES' to my requests and shows attitude. I spoke to her and asked if everything is ok and she said yes. I made it clear to her that we need help with the baby-child care. I took her to a birthday party with my son, where DS got wet and while all the other maids ran to bring towels she didn't even react. I went and brought the towel for DS.

She was petsitting in her previous job and she confessed to my mother that she was kicking the dog sometimes :(

I am quite confused what to do? Would you keep her or send her?

What kind of an idiot would confess to kicking the dog she was supposed to sit in her previous job. Firstly she abused an animal which is horrible behaviour, secondly she is stupid enough to admit it. This means she doesnt even think it was a "mistake". For me this would be a huge red flag. FUERA! edited by Yasmine on 15/03/2011

thanx, I also picked up on the animal kicking immediately. but we concinced ourselves that she was misterated in the other house and seeing how spoiled the dog is compared to her may have caused her anger.. but nothing is an excuse for cruelty! my previous helper back home was so lazy, she impressed me with her hardworkingness..

I agree with rest of the ladies here, if she is kicking a dog, then she is capable of doing anything... don't take chance with your children.Send her home fast.

Anyone who would kick a dog is not a nice person. Obviously she has a mean streak..I would never leave a child in her care personally. I would also have a go at her about kicking a helpless animal. IMHO, if you ok with abusing animals, you have a little something wrong. I am not talking about disliking animals either...my DH does not like dogs at all, he is a cat person but he would never hurt a dog.

Get rid of her asap. Kicking a dog? That tells you everything you need to know. I know its hard to find someone great, but don't settle for less or someone even harmful just because it may take a little time to find the right person. Get this broad out of your house. If she is like this during the first month...imagine when she gets comfortable.

Hi Tarcin, Reading your post, I do feel for you. If you and the children do not feel comfortable with her, then I would let her go. If she doesn't have patience with pets, I would not leave her alone with your children. Good Luck and I do hope you find someone who is happy to work for you and your family. edited by Delta Phi on 15/03/2011

Personally, I won't employ anybody who is not good to pets. Pets have less need and require less attention than a child. If she has no patience with the dog, how much patience would she have with your children? If you only need a clean house, then that's a different story. edited by blimey on 15/03/2011 edited by blimey on 15/03/2011
