Hi ladies,

I was wondering if anyone could advise. I had an emergency c section at Corniche hospital in December and am already thinking about baby no. 2!

I wanted to know if anyone knows whether I would be able to/have to have another c section or whether I'd be able to have a vaginal birth if I chose to. If I was going to have a planned c section is it compulsory to have a general anaesthetic?

Ideally, after my bad experience of labour, I'd like to have a planned c section but not with general anaesthetic as I have never had one and would prefer to be awake when the baby is born...

Thanks!

i had my first baby in the uk but it was a planned c section due to having low placenta. i had my second baby here in abu dhabi corniche hospital. i had all the checks re the scar here and whether it was ok to have a natural birth, and that was ok and had a spinal luckily it was during the day, (back then this is over 12 years ago they only did anaesthetics during the daytime, luckily now its 24 hours round the clock). As i had medical issues with baby no 1 i also had a consultant available if needed too!

I'm not sure about this hospital in particular but I had a C section and then a vaginal birth 3 years later. I think if you are planning to have your second soon, you would probably be told to have another c section. But there should be no reason why you would have to go under a general anesthetic for it. Best of luck. You're going to sure have your hands full ;-)
