Hey Crystals! Yes! I planned the whole morning of yesterday to hunt for beads and the first place I went to (actually second; beach centre didn't have any) I found loads at the Crystal House in Al Hanna Centre (thanks for the tip A Rancher!). They have beautiful swarovski crystals but they were a little expensive (around dhs 20-30 each). So I went for the glass and acrylic ones. Not as nice but they are fine. Will check out the souq next week!

AS other have said for price and quantity Diera or Dragon Mart is your best bet.... There are lots of bead places in Dragon Mart and Diera..I suggest you take a bead or a picture with you ,as it will make it easier to show what you are after .. Good luck .....

Have you tried Crystal House in Al Hanna Centre in Satwa? Lots of nice beads and crystals and so much more organised than Dragonmart.

If I am remembering correctly, look for shops in the "J" section of Dragon Mart... The other alternative could be the factories in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Asfour, etc. To purchase they [i'>might [/i'>require trade licence, tough.

I was at Dragon Mart last week but didn't find any. Do you remember where? Not exactly but if you can find the area where the bead shops are, its on the left hand side of the main thoroughfare (if you have your back to the main entrance). It was a shop that appeared to be two units joined together at the back. It had a beads etc hanging near one entrance and some lamps & chandeliers on the other side plus "tables" in the central floor area beyond each door way - it was in one of these that I spotted the crystals - lots of different sizes. Hope that helps even if it sounds a bit vague. Thanks. Will have a look there too. Does anyone know if the wholesale souq sells bigger (20mm) glass beads, preferably teardrop or pear shaped?

Now that's exciting... great idea! In that case as you require quantity, I would suggest you try the wholesale souq in Deira. Location: as you enter the gold souq from the car park/bus depot side, go down to the T-junction where the gold souq continues towards the right. You turn left, continue along and across a r/a (about 3-4 min walk), then you will have a number of shops on your left that sell Swarovski/other crystals beads in bulk. The Zoo Road is the connection road between Jum Beach Rd and Al Wasl; as you to from the Zoo towards AW, it's one of the last villas on the left, next to the (now vacated) Green ARt Gallery (although the sign is still there). Are you into handy-craft/jewelry making?

Hey Bianca, there is the Bead Palace in Jumeirah, Villa No 3 on the Zoo Road (with a blue gate) - they keep a fairly large stock of beads, Swarovski, crystal and glass/plastic (google them for contact). Otherwise, if you require quantities, there is a wholesale souq in Deira, close to the gold souq.
