Walking my dog last night I saw 2 rats in Saheel near the childrens play area (in the carpark) on Saheel Street, last week I saw one climbing my fence. I am pretty freaked out and I want to get a company to come and put traps all around my garden and check out my house to make sure there are no entry points where they could get in.... my husband thinks I am paranoid but I am really freaked out by rats. So ladies any advice on what I can do to prevent them coming near my house or garden.

PS I would get a cat but after being attacked by a feral one when I was little I have been scared of cats ever since.

Don't bother emailing Emaar as you are unlikely to get a response. You need to call....

Should point out that we don't have pets so the boxes were ok. Didn't like the idea of poison but unless you want to shoot them (!) there is no choice. We had rat poo all over the children's balconies upstairs, in their playhouse, all over the toys etc etc... I actually would not mind shooting them. :). Rats freak me out, I have spent the afternoon mentally dropping bombs on them. Will email Emaar, thanks for your advise!

I live in Saheel and we had lots of rats in the garden. So I called Emaar and at first they tried to put the responsibility on me and said as the rats were in our garden it was our duty to get rid of them. I pointed out to them that I thought they were coming into the garden from public areas. Within 2 days they had sent pest control round who laid down these boxes with poison around our garden and they came twice to monitor the situation. Within about 10days we were rat free which was lovely.

One more thing, go file a complaint, rats are absolutely not acceptable.. We are supposed to be living in a clean community and we are paying a huge amount of rent.. at least we should have a house and garden free of rats + please take care because if you put poison for the rats, your dog might eat it by mistake and he will die (he will bleed inside - I watched that on animal planet) so whatever option you choose you make sure that it is safe for your dog.

Oh gosh, its just gross. I really need to feel like I am acting and start a rat prevention program LOL.. If I could put a fire wall around my house I would, but aside from that any good companies to call? :) @ Clairehdps little girl.

A cat in the garden is a super great idea :) and I am very serious.. I am feeding an outdoor cat who belongs to someone but loves to visit my garden, the other day in the morning, I saw him catching a small little mouse in my garden, he killed him, put him inside his teeth (mouth), jumped on the wall, disappeared for 15 minutes and returned to my garden to complete his biscuit snacks and drink water :D I live in Springs and saw a mouse before the above accident in few days, I held my siamese in my hands and took her out to see him, she went crazy and I had to hold her tight as she lost her mind and wanted to jump on him and I didn't want her to end up with an upset stomach so I took back inside the house and she spent all evening figuring out if it is possible to get out :) I called pest control but they told me that mice and lizard are not included in pest control..
