My husband and I have finally got to the point of wanting to get a dog.
Does anyone have any tips about how to choose a dog and from where? I have seen a great amount of dogs offered up free for adoption and understand that there is no market (apart from dodgy pet shops) for pedigree dogs here. I am a bit weary of choosing a dog that might turn out to have issues. Especially as often these dogs have been found and there is not much known about where they come from or indeed what kind of breed they are.
I don't want to just go and see a dog and fall in love with it's cuteness and then not be ready for dealing with a rescued dog. I was ready to get a dog where I can research the breed, the pedigree, the temperament etc etc but am not too sure about a dog that is free to adopt. Any thoughts?
