Having some friends over for dinner this Thursday and really want to impress them with a nice 3 course meal. They are both Iraqi so pork is off the menu. I'd like to have maybe a little theme so that it all sort of matches. For main I think I might cook some nice steaks as I know my DH and friend will love that! Any ideas? TIA!

Thanks Kylie, already asked the first question and thankfully neither of them are fussy. Agree with you about not going down the Arabic route, just like I would never cook pasta for an Italian friend. I'm not sure I want to do a roast, I do that quite often and really want to do something different... Just found a little book called Super Grub and it looks promising. Will have a good loook through that. KYP

First a good idea to see if any particular food preferences or dislikes. I find many people are fussy when it comes to food (unlike me who eats anything!) Obv pork out of the question. Unless you are from an arabic background yourself, perhaps best to avoid arabic type foods as the bar will be set high! Maybe keep it simple, for example, a roast beef with potatoes and beans, a starter of pumpkin soup with parmesan croutons and a classic dessert like cheesecake or chocoate covered strawberries with a little ice cream. All easy and should impress for sure.
