We've lived here about 6 months and my dog has never had any issues with his paws before....more and more he's licking the tops of his front two paws. Anyone's little critter have the same problem? I wonder if he's allergic to something in the sand??

As the others have said check for mites and ticks! They live in the sand and cling onto the paws as the dog walks past. My dog was doing that and it was tiny dog ticks between her toes.

mine was doing this a few months back on one side and turned out he had a splinter between his toes (are they actually called toes?) I actually rinse my dogs paws everytime we come in from a walk bc I cant avoid the sand he gets into...we've been here a year and knock wood...no mites. HTH

Sounds like he has mites which can come from the grass and sand here. Try using stronghold (like frontline but treats mites too) and see if that helps. You should be able to get it from most vets.

Check his paws carefully. Lots of sand areas here have harvest mites in, and if your dog picks them up they will irritate him . They are tiny, but bright orange, which helps to spot them! If it is mites then you can get a treatment wash from the vet.
