Hi ladies! My LO is only 4 months ( however a big guy) he has been sinking 210 Mls of regular Aptamil formula for nearly two months, a reputable LC recommended the increase at that stage as he always drank his bottle until empty. However particularily at his bedtime feed at 7pm he has started to cry for more and suck at his hands frantically, I understand he is due an increase but the next stage is from 6 months. I worry that his wee system isn't ready for that & I don't want to introduce solids at this stage. Has anyone tried Hungry Babies formula?? If so where in Dubai stocks it as I can't seem to find it at all? TIA:)

Thanks guys! He's far from starved I swear;) He always leaves a little with his other feeds during the day it's just his bedtime feed I was concerned about. I'll try more scoops tonight Hehe, I don't think any of us thought you was starving him :) You will figure out whats best one way or another. Fingers crossed for you :)

My 6 week old is on 6 oz which is 6 scoops every three hours now on his tin it says the guideline is 4 all my three children have always drunk more milk than the guidelines... Avent bottles go up to 9 oz so 9 scoops they also recommend u put an extra ounce in every feed incase he or she can drink more. So def give your little one more milk. Or get some hungry milk.

Thanks for the info ladies :) I would love to simply increase his existing formula however 210 Mls with 7 scoops is the max recommended on the packaging. He has 6 bottles a day already which is recommended for 6 months and he is only just 4 months. I thought perhaps a more substantial formula at night would be more satisfying. Thanks again :) OMG! NO! That is completely wrong! There is no such thing as a maximum amount of formula (or minimum) that a baby at a certain age should drink. The amounts listed on the can are only recommended quantities and if I'm not mistaken most tins also state that the amounts they've listed are only guidelines and depending on your baby he/she could need more or less. At that age, you should feed your baby on demand, if he's asking for more you should give him more. Don't let him go hungry because he's gone beyond the guidelines listed on the tin.

I used it for one feed at night with my DD for similar reasons. We don't have it in NZ, but my SIL who lives in the uk recommended it and it did help us to establish a better night routine. I've been out of Dubai for awhile, but I used to be able to get the pre made cartons in the Choitrams on Al Wasl Rd- they sometimes run out so you may want to stock up if you find them. I guess supply will be your biggest issue in Dubai, I was lucky that we often did a UK visit or had visitors who brought it in for us. If your really desperate to try it you can order it from this website- http://www.expatessentials.com/ it is fairly expensive though, when we did a 5 week trip to NZ I ordered some in advance to avoid carrying it all.

The thing with Hungry baby is yes it does fill them more, this is because it lays heavy on the stomach. Also they don't put as much weight on with hungry baby. I would recommend also, try to increase the bottles or add an extra one. If you really want to use the hungry baby stuff obviously you can, but just consider all options :) I had my son on hungry baby (at a young age as i didnt know the above info at the time) It was when i moved him off it, i realised he could poop easier and seemed to be happier and put more weight on (he was never under weight mind) <em>edited by laurab85 on 28/10/2011</em>
