Hi StaceM,I had a cerclage here in Dubai when pregnant with my daughter who is now 2. The cerclage was done at 14 weeks in Medcare by Dr Luthra but was removed at 37.5 weeks at al Wasl-I went on to deliver on my due date .I did have have a couple of suspected premature labour signs and was hospitalised twice in Al Wasl but they managed to stop it progressing. I don't have first hand expereince on this but have heard stories about women having cerclages going on to deliver a healthy baby at full term. Wish you all the very best. Pls keep us updated.

Had this done with the second baby at 20 wks, removed at 38 wks and induced in the next couple of days as the doctor was afraid the labour and delivery would be very fast so it's better to have things under control. Nothing complicated really - got epidural and in 30 minutes all was finished. Spent a night in the hospital (a good opportunity to check on the delivery and maternity wards "from inside"). Removing is uncomfortable but not painful. Hope it all goes good for you.

Hi All I've just been told today that I need a cerclage. My cervix is measuring 2.6cm and should be 3.5cm or more. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and the procedure will be next Sunday. I'm very very scared and can't help but worry myself silly. I'm classed as a high risk pregnancy anyway due to previous complications which means they won't let me deliver naturally (again I only got told this today so struggling to let it all sink in). I can't help but think about what could go wrong but then I know all of us face our own worries and what will be will be. I've noticed past threads about cervical cerclages but has anyone had one recently? This is my first pregnancy and I'm having the procedure done at Al Wasl, and I haven't told many people I'm pregnant because I'm too scared what may happen x
