Hi ladies,

I am a mum and my daughter will complete her first year next 25th July and I am planning to do a party for her, any recommendation about places here in Dubai or any nice idea to make it a great day.

When my LO turned 1 last year, I just kept it quite simple and used a section of the gym in the apartment block - it is also a play area for the kids so there was loads of space for the kids to run around. I did the food myself. I did a selection of sandwiches, biscuits, snacks etc as people really do not expect much at a 1st birthday party. I had a Barney theme and got plates, party bags, napkins etc from a party shop in Meadows Town Centre. For the entertainment, I hired Barney as my LO is a big fan. All the kids loved him. Oh, that will depend which cuisine you prefer/whether it's lunch or dinner/what area you are willing to travel to :) Why don't you check Timeout Dubai restaurant section and see descriptions and reviews? http://www.timeoutdubai.com/restaurants Also, if you have Entertainer Fine Dining or Family books, you could select some restaurant based on that. Although I've ordered DD the dress from Amazon, there are pretty dresses in Monsoon kids section, Mothercare, BHS, Mamas&Papas or if you fancy something more expensive, check the kids designer stores in Dubai Mall top floor (Dior, Salam store, Burberry,...)

She is too small to understand the concept of bday party or to enjoy any kind of entertainment, so it's more for the adults rather than kids. If you want to go out for bday party, find a restaurant for your family & friends that you are comfortable with. Otherwise, just organize a nice gathering at home to celebrate her 1st bday :) For DS & DD birthdays we've opted for restaurants that had a buffet so guests could have a choice of international cuisines with choice of alcohol (it's easier than a la carte option). Restaurants provided cakes and we've arranged the decorations like balloons and party hats.
