Hello there :)

Hope all are fine.

I have been informed by my doctor that I develop gestational diabetes.. Se gave me a meal plan at a diet course for 6days as they will
Check again the sugar level on the 7th day.

Anybody experience this?
What happen my blood sugar didn't improve? They told me that I will be having insulin throughout the pregnancy?
Do you think, I don't have a chance for a normal delivery because of this.

Please share your experience.

Thanks,
Hassli

Hassli that's great news :) Before GTT usually you are asked to fast for a couple of hours, so if you ate lots of sweets that probably did not help hehe. It's good that your diet is not strict, just have everything in moderation. Re blurred vision & dizziness, I never experienced that, best thing is to speak to your doctor. I guess. edited by Nyle on 03/09/2012 I did fast for 10hours i think.. But before that, a week of sweets for me.. :) I will check with the doctor and will eat in moderation :) Thanks Nyle :) edited by Hassli on 03/09/2012

Hello :) I just received the result of my lab test last Friday (Glocuse series 4x (fasting, breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the result are within range. Does it means that I really don't have gestational diabetes? Before the GTT test, I eat a lot of sweets and maybe it does affect the result somehow. I still need to continue to go on diet but not so strict.. I miss rice and sweets, wish to have them one in a while but not sure if I can have. And, is having blurred vision and frequent dizziness is normal during 26weeks onwards. Will ask the doctor but I also like to hear your experience with GD. Thanks, Hassli

That's great, also you can find a lot of tips and recipes online if you search for GD menus to help you out on what food is good for GD or not. I also saw a nutritionist and she was really of great help (even though I was very familiar with diabetic menus since it runs in my family) Rgrds Nyle

Hi Hassli, I have been diagnosed with GD around a month ago. It's not that bad until you get used to eating loads of protein and veggies and less carbs. I'm not sure about your meal plan but I was told to check the blood sugar 2 hrs after each meal so that I have constant readings.. This way you will know if you are eating the right food/amounts. Gestational diabetes is usually controlled by diet and insulin is not needed if you are eating healthy ( unless you were diabetic before becoming pregnant) Don't worry too much because when you worry your blood sugar will automatically increase. If you manage to control it it will not effect in any way how you give birth and you can def have a normal birth! Just remember eat healthy and walk or excercise daily, even if it is for just 15 mins, it helps a lot. Take care and g'luck with your pregnancy :)
