* Thanks for the reply, which has given me hope and encouragement. Will start the walking today, actually might go for a swim with the kids :)
* Can you please tell me how long was the gap between your first test and the 4X tests?
Hi there,
I was diagnosed with GD at 10 weeks and saw an amazing dietitian who gave me a great comprehensive plan as well as recipes and portion sizes, if you give me your email address I will happily send it to you.
It takes a little practice and I always did a blood sugar test after eating any new meals.
Also found some great low carb bread at the Organic Supermarket, which when I had 2 slices with some protein eg Cream Cheese for breakfast it kept me full without making my blood sugar sky rocket. The low carb wraps from the supermarket are also great for lunches.
Once I got into a routine I had a really healthy pregnancy and 6 weeks ago gave birth to a lovely healthy little boy.
Keep positive I promise it will get easier.
Hi Toodles,
i have been diagnose with GD around 24weeks and gaining 3kilos in a month. (My glocuse result is almost 12 vs 8 which is the maximum)
The doctor gave me a diet plan with is so basic aswell but didn't really follow what was written there. I continue my usual meal but in lesser quantity (and i cut all sweet/ sugary foods that i love such as ice cream, cakes, chocolates etc) and do a lot of walking everyday (min. Of 10 minutes everymeal and extra 30minutes a night) in preparation for the 4x glocuse test. (I still continue this exercise after I passed)
I passed the 4x glocuse test and lost 3kg in a month. The doctor is so happy and told me to continue the diet so I am continuing my usual meal (nothing special.. I still have my usual rice, from time to time If I crave for sweets, I indulged with watermelon, try to eat in every two-three hours).
Tried aswell to go online for diet menus but find it difficult aswell to follow.
Below are the website I visited for GD

Please visit my Post re GD as other moms have a better advice there :)
Goodluck
*I would really appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction to get meal plans to control gestational diabetes. Any websites? books? etc. The information given by the hospital dietician was very basic.
* Do the gov hospitals provide you with the testing machine to monitor your blood glucose or do you have to buy it yourself?
* I have only had the GTT and will have the 4X and fasting blood test in ten days time. Is it possible that if i walk everyday and follow a diet plan i might be told that i don't in fact have GD after these tests. Would love to hear from people with similar experiences.
* Feeling so gutted and almost in denial :( as i wasn't diabetic prior to the pregnancy and didnt have it with both of my other pregnancies. I am not over weight either. Is there a chance i can turn this around??
