Nuchal Scan and other waffle!!

I haven't decided if to stick with Latifa Hospital or go to Dr Ibrahim at City Hospital...as I have no maternity insurance I am just weighing up all of the options. I am 10wks +4 and I think if I bought insurance through Daman I may get caught out with their 180 day wait and not be covered so i am deciding if to purchase one of the Maternity Packages at LH or CH.

ANYWAY, I have booked a NT scan with Latifa but I don't know if to go elsewhere like FMC or Allied Diagnostics etc so I can actually keep the results and then go and see another specialist, not one at Latifa (am I making sense??!!).

Any advice or comments?

Fetal centre at Healthcare city is a good option for you as they do independent scan, sharing the results (originals) for you to use else where...

Thanks Daza. Congrats to you too. Do you have insurance? I don't and I am in a real quandary!

Congrats johjoh! I had my oldest (7) in the UK and my current baby will be my third here. I found it a much nicer experience having a baby here than in the UK.

Thanks Daza. Feel a little more relaxed than I did this morning. This baby no.3 but was a heck of a shock..others are 6 and 9 and I had them in the UK...thought my nappy days were long gone!

I gave up trying to call LH for anything! They should be able to advise you when you go for the NT, it's normally much easier in person.

I have been booked in for my Nuchal scan at Latifa but they didn't mention the blood test and I know you have the scan done before the test. I will call them again tomorrow but it is such hard work over the phone! I had to persuade the Dr to refer me for the scan so I think that is why she hasn't arranged the bloods too. The FMC is too expensive for us...they quoted me 1550aed and we have no insurance so trying to keep costs down :s

Not sure, is that the blood test at the same time as the NT? If so yes, although both were done at FMC, I hadn't registered with LH at that point.

The maternity packages at LH or CH just cover you for a set number of standard visits and tests, they won't cover any additional treatment that may be needed. For my current pregnancy I've had complications so have been seeing my private OB/GYN but I also got a package with LH in case of early delivery. The government OB/GYN I was seeing gave me copies of tests etc so I could pass them on to my private OB/GYN. There was no issue whatsoever with this, they are actually required to give you copies if you so request.
