Advice pls-12wk old sleeping and general routine
Hi,
My darling boy is 12wks old, growing well and healthy but I wanted to ask advice. He's breast fed besides one top up formula feed from my husband in the evening (started when he was born in nicu so we continued this). We've always gone with baby led feeding and he's a hungry boy! There is a sleep routine in the evening and he goes down around 11-11:30pm (when his grizzly colic subsides).
He started to elongate night feeds from every 2.5hrs to 4/5 hrs but recently he's upped to 2.5hr feeds in the night. My milk supply has fluctuated sometimes since his birth but even when there's plenty of milk for a while and he's happily 'drunk', he's still waking up every 2/3hrs. I tried exclusively breastfeeding with no formula top up and I had a week of 4or5 night feeds so added top up back in!
Question1: how do we decrease the nightfeeds , and is there anything I can do to help him and me? Or am I just on a waiting game because I've been baby led? He does feed and sleep fairly quickly in the night.
Question2:how would you recommend a routine for him to eat/sleep?
The fennel/fenugreek tea has helped boost my milk supply (such a relief!). I'm not worried about my boy as he seems to be thriving, I'm just wondering if I'm missing a trick to help me get more sleep...any ideas? At th moment I try and catch an afternoon nap where I can but can feel my body getting run down. Just thought I'd ask what others are doing!
Any suggestions appreciated. I'm trying to get to a feed-play-sleep routine but it often ends with feed-play-feed to sleep routine!
