Does anyone know if I can travel with my baby without having his residence visa done? Just got his passport and want to fly next week and will not have time to get his visa sorted before then.

We faced a similar situation with DD, urgently needed to travel but her residence visa was still being processed. We had no choice but to wait till her visa got done. They will check your baby's visa on exit (whether residence visa or visit visa), and even if you do manage to leave, how will you do her visa while you are out of the country, they need her physical passport to put the residence visa sticker on. Just apply for the visa today, usually takes a week (ours took longer because there was a delay in the main office for all visas that time, but they said usually it would have been done in a week) so you might still be able to fly out.

I doubt you will be able to leave without a valid visa. Remember, you pass through immigration before you get on a plane and they look for your current via. It's the same for a baby. The visas are fast to get so I would just start this week and you should be ok as long as the sponsor's visa is not close to expiration.
