Just be aware that it's a registration of birth as distinct from a birth certificate that you can get. It's not cheap but is worth it...ie i lost the original cert but was able to get a replacement last year cos I'd registered her birth with the Embassy in Malaysia. It's not cheap but I felt worth it as otherwise she only had her Malaysian birth cert. It acts like a birth cert but is different. . Your kids will need to be aware of this when they grow up and start a family as any kids they have will not automatically be given a British Passport. Yes, this is very true. Your children will be British by descent, which means that their own children need to be born in the UK, or they need to reside in the UK for a minimum of 3 years and keep proof of this.

Yes we did get a UK birth certificate for our son and it cost £200 I think but it's worth getting as will stop any issues for the baby in years to come. We did it all ourselves but you need to go to the British Embassy to do this as they will take documents from you and send these off. One problem we did have is they need both parents FULL LONG version on birth certificate which we did not have so had to apply on line for these and they cost 25.00 each.

My DD was born in Malaysia. She got a Malaysian Birth cert but then I was able to register her birth with British Embassy. She got a registration of birth cert which is slightly different from a birth certificate. I was born in Uk so I was able to get her a british passport. As far as I understand, if your kids are born overseas then either you or your husbnd must have been born in UK for your kids to automatically be able to access a British passport Ie when my DD has kids she must give birth to them in Uk or the dad must have been born in UK. I've never had any problems with my DD not having a British birth cert but i am aware that she will need to be careful when she is older. As long as you have Brutish passports nd at least one of you was born in the UK you shouldn't have any problems.

I may be wrong, but as far as I know you can only get a birth certificate from the country of birth, so yours will be a Dubai BC. You will then be able to get a British passport for the twins.

Hi Having a nightmare trying to get simple answers from MOH over the phone and can't find a number for British Embassy. Just need to know a couple things. 1) if hubby & I are British passport holders can we still get a British birth certificate? I'm due to give birth in September at City Hospital, Dubai. 2) I'm going to use medi express. They supposedly help register visas for babies (twins). If there are any good companies out there you have used please do share! 3) ALSO, I've heard having "place of birth" as Dubai on the birth certificate can cause problems when renewing the passport when we move back to UK? Anybody know anything more about this? If you can advise on one query that would be fab! Thanks
