Hello there,

We have been notified by horizon (safa) that my DD is put on the waitlist for FS1-2016. if there are any cancellation there are chances that we might be called.

I would like to know if there is anyone out here who is facing the same situation??
OR
Is there anybody who was put on the waitlist and later offered a seat?? if yes, what are the chances that we would be offered a seat

COnfused!!!

we've been at Horizon for the past five years and have seen a lot of changes over the years... the school did struggle with their communication with parents (both existing and potential) when they doubled in size around three years ago... things are much better now than they have ever been - in terms of communication as well as in other areas (such as facilities, senior management team, etc.) waitlists are unfortunately a distinct element of all the popular schools... and the one reason why many schools still adopt this format is because of the expat community here there is so much of movement due to relocation, residence changes, etc throughout the year... the schools need to fill places to keep their costs/revenues on track and they always need to have a backup/waitlist to fall on... unfortunately they cannot rely solely on this method as often many people on the waitlist would have also applied at multiple other schools hence when they actually start sending out offers not many come back positively! an evil cycle really... hope u hear back from the schools you've applied to and soon! all the best!

Reading this post brings back awful memories of two years ago at the same school. My son passed the assessment, was waitlisted and we decided to hold out as we were told that he was "top of the waitlist" and unfortunately I did not have a plan b. I only had his name down at that school which was a massive mistake. Horizon were absolutely dreadful to deal with from the Receptionist, to the Registar to the Principal. I remained polite and patient at each step although I made it clear that I was in a tough situation (I was home schooling him from Sep-Dec while waiting for a spot and I also had 3 younger siblings including baby twins at home!). They couldn't care less and were rude and arrogant at every step. Mumonboard, do you have a plan b? I hope so. I have friends at Horizon and none of them are happy there, seriously. Although, the kids seem to like it which I admit is also important. Anyway, sorry, I obviously have a thing against the school. They did eventually offer us a spot but at that point I was bolting in the other direction. We had applied to two other schools as well.. one was a GEMS school (honestly!! i do not know what they are expecting from a 3 yr old..) we dint get a spot there.. (and we dint belong to any of their priority group ). The next one we are waiting for results.. so three schools all together.. Horizon on wait list, one denial, third one: awaiting reply.. fingers crossed!!

We were lucky to actually get a place but my understanding is that they send the offers in "waves" and depending on the acceptances they move to the next "wave" etc. I was told the waiting list is so long that they are not accepting any more applications for FS1 or FS2 2016, so if I were you I'd wait a couple of weeks for the process to play out and then I'd check again to see if you can get an offer by that time or if you stay on the waiting list whereabouts on the list are you, so you can assess the likelihood of getting a place. Congrats!!! We r still stuck.. Will write to them after a week to get an update..thanks?
