For some of us that work in Finance, there is no way we can get out. Maybe you can hold them midmonth instead, or towards the end of the month? Yes, We understand. The coffee mornings aren't convenient when you're working and the evening meet ups you sometimes have, for me are at a really bad time in the month as they're at the beginning of the month and I have work commitments until about the 9th of every month. Totally agree with u Bob2015..... wish there was another way to connect and possibly meet up.... any suggestions anyone? We agree with you too. That's why we host an Evening with EW as well. Try an app called happn. I was told about it by someone. I've been online and there are some not bad people out there. Some just want a bit of fun it's true, and some just want friendship. The only problem I've found is that either the men "connect" with you and then when you say hi you get nothing or alternatively what I've had with a couple of guys that I thought were pretty good was initial conversation - great conversation and banter - and then nothing! First I thought it was me but I have another friend who's experienced the same. Long and short - don't rule it out but don't have be surprised if there is nothing :) However, if you're new here and want to meet up let me know. I'm not new here but have gone through a bit and feels like I'm new here. I'm taking advice from other nice ladies on here and getting out there :) Hi Bob2015, Just downloaded Happn... lets see how it goes... I seem to be in the same boat as you... been here for a while... divorced and finding it difficult to meet people... wld love to meet up... just cant figure out how to send PMs on here :confused: :)

Thanks for your responses so far and advice. I'm definitely NOT interested in married men. I have done a search for online dating sites in the area - I just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a site as there are lots and also wanted to make sure they were genuine (and I wasn't signing up all my personal details to something dodgy). I'll check out Zoosk too (if I can access). Thanks again.

I met my husband before online apps, actually before online anything even before mobile phones. These days it's more complicated. I am sorry I don't know specific sites but I do have a close friend who has been married over 30 years and has four children having met through an agency - she took six weeks from first meeting to wedding. My mother in law was widowed after 40 happy years of marriage via traditional meeting. After several miserable and lonely years she met a man through the little personal adverts in the Telegraph ant has now been with her partner for 12 years - the children still cringe at the notion of Grannies wrinkly *** but she is happy. My sister in law married last year after finding her husband through one of the online things. I also know a few men who met and married via the traditional route who are anything but honourable, faithful and able to keep their trousers zipped in the presence of single women. My point is that it is not the online apps fault that some men are love rats. The romantic ideal can make us blind to warning signals re marital,status so caution and common sense are needed but......most men, like most women, are decent and do not want a string of illicit affairs. Where you find 'the one' is irrelevant. Can't you look online to find online apps?

Ah the Nay-Sayers. Sorry AdventureB, I met my husband online - he was fresh off the boat, didn't know anyone and was looking for people to hang out with initially. I got bored of 'meeting' people in all the usual places. I can't tell you how many of my friends have met their current partners/husbands/wives online, but it's LOTS of of them. Sure you have to trawl through the people just looking for flings etc, but there are many genuine people who're looking for something serious and are too shy/busy/don't feel comfortable putting themselves out there. I have two friends who are in serious relationships that met people on online , so it does happen. Don't poo poo the idea, meeting online has and does work for so many people.
