Hi,
I have recently been offered a part time 0.5 teaching contract. Can someone in the field tell me what the 0.5 contact means? What benefits would i have, paid summer break, annual tickets, fee concession for kids? Also, whats the minimum pay i should be looking at if i am new to teaching? Also, how negotiable is the salary offer?
Hoping to get some answers before i accept.
Thanks:))

When I worked in HR a 0.5 contract meant every benefit was divided in half, except for your medical insurance cover, I'd just ask them to outline the benefits you'll receive on this type of contract. Salary, well that depends on type of school/curriculum, your teaching experience (some don't pay for supply experience, or gaps in teaching) and their own pay scale which varies school/company Will also depend if it's a local or overseas contract too - especially in relation to flights and child places

Hasn't the employer stated answers to your questions? Part time rarely receive benefits such as you are asking about. In my experience you will have little to no room to negotiate unless your quals (you say you're new to teaching so experience doesn't factor into it). You should ask the school your questions about the benefits.
