Hi Ladies,

One of my friend who is moving to Dubai is asking for good doctor, I go to Dr Luthra for my annual check up but do not have any experience about her engagement during delivery. I read posts where reviews are mixed and pretty much from 2012. Anybody recently delivered in Medcare with her please share your experience as we need to choose a doctor for my friend. She is to the point or not so friendly or talkative as per my experience but all what matters how she is during delivery and her commitment

I went to Dr. Luthra twice and it is my first pregnancy. she seems to have the confidence of handling complicated pregnancies and all but for me that was not enough. She never answered any of my questions. Like once I asked her why am I taking this medicine now and she just raised her voice and said THIS IS PREGNANCY RELATED MEDICINE. This is very obvious that I was not at her clinic to get some lose weight pills . I visited her twice and the second time the poor nurse made a mistake while doing sonography and she yelled at her and telling her you stupid girl.... and this was the last time i went to her, beside that the Women and Children Medcare Hospital where she delivers is yet new and I was not sure about the quality of midwives and nurses on The Big Day when I need the most attention and assistance! so I decided to go to Dr. Britt Clausson at City Hospital. So far I visited her once. She seems to be confident as well and know what she does, spent enough time with me and my husband to know our background without any arrogance or make you feel like : hey! time's up, next patient .

From what I have heard, Dr Luthra is a skilled doctor but not the best personality to deal with, so that puts a lot of people off. On a side note, I had my baby at Medcare 4 years ago (a different doctor who has now left) and while the hospital was alright I was not happy with the doctors. My gynae was very panicked and didnt help put me to ease at all, and the pediatrician misdiagnosed my daughers jaundice, ran a lot of unnecessary tests and we felt like they were making a big deal out of it just to get money from us. If your friends can deliver at City Hospital or American Hospital (Dr Raj and Dr Braithaite have great reviews) with her insurance, those would be better options.

I have had only few pregnancy appointments with her but then I changed as it was too stressful to continue with her. I went back to my doc at nmc speciality qusais, Dr babita. One of my acquaintance delivered with dr luthra last year. She was high risk due to gestational diabetes and a previous preg complication but was quite pleased about how her pregnancy was handled and her planned c section. Medcare hospital's emergency care is good. I have had a good experience in the past. I can recommend the hospital but not the doctor.
